“Un saludo a Armando Esteban Quito… a Jorge Nitales… un beso muy grande a Elsa Capunta… somos tus fans número uno desde Narnia…”. De esta forma saludaba la estrella peruana de YouTube Wendy Sulca a sus supuestos fans a comienzos de este mes por un Tweetcam, sin percatarse, aparentemente, de que era víctima de una serie de burlas al mencionar nombres ficticios y de doble sentido. Las bromas en su mayoría provenían de “fans” chilenos.

This is how Peruvian star Wendy Sulca greeted her supposed fans earlier this month on her Tweetcam [es], seemingly unaware that she was the victim of a series of pranks as she stated fictitious names, some with double meanings. The jokes mostly came from her Chilean “fans”.
El video de más de cuatro minutos de duración inmediatamente se difundió por YouTube, el mismo sitio que le daría fama hace más de cinco años, despertando las risas y el malestar en algunos. En declaraciones a un programa de espectáculos peruano, Sulca confesó estar inconforme “por las bromas de mal gusto” y afirmó no tener “ese tipo de malicia”. Asimismo, algunos periodistas nacionales expresaron su disconformidad, aduciendo que abusaron de la “inocencia” de una niña de tan solo 16 años.
The video of more than four minutes immediately spread like wildfire on YouTube, the same site that made her famous more than five years ago [es], inciting laughter and discomfort in some. In a statement she made to a Peruvian television show, Sulca confessed she is unhappy “with the jokes made in bad taste” and affirmed she does not have “that type of malice”. Also, some national journalists expressed their disagreement, arguing that people have taken advantage of the “innocence” of a girl who is just 16 years old.
Y es que, a decir verdad, las canciones y videos de Wendy Sulca, que rayan entre lo insólito y el kitsch, le ha valido reconocimientos, burlas y múltiples críticas que traspasan fronteras. Un claro ejemplo es el programa español El Intermedio, cuyos animadores han arremetido contra Wendy Sulca (junto a otros fenomenos de YouTube, La Tigresa del Oriente y Delfín Quishpe) en múltiples ocasiones:
